Your rights, responsibilities, and guidelines for a successful Erasmus+ mobility experience.
The Student Charter
The Erasmus Student Charter outlines your rights and obligations during your participation in the Erasmus+ program. It is designed to ensure you have a clear understanding of what to expect and what is expected of you while studying, training, or interning abroad.
1. Before Your Mobility Period
Your Rights:
- Receive guidance on the application process and information about the host institution or organization.
- Obtain a pre-financing payment within 30 days of signing the grant agreement or upon confirmation of arrival.
- Access information on automatic recognition procedures and the grading system of the host institution.
- Receive assistance with insurance, housing, visa requirements, and support services for special needs.
Your Responsibilities:
- Sign a grant agreement and a learning agreement to ensure automatic recognition of your mobility period.
- Complete an online language assessment (OLS) to access tailored learning resources.
- Ensure you have appropriate health insurance coverage. For traineeships, also secure liability and accident insurance.
2. During Your Mobility Period
Your Rights:
- Be treated equally to local students or employees, without discrimination of any kind.
- Enjoy academic freedom in sharing ideas and conducting research.
- Benefit from networks of mentors and buddies at the host institution.
- Access information about student organizations and support services.
Your Responsibilities:
- Respect the rules and regulations of the host institution or organization.
- Complete the agreed-upon activities as outlined in your learning agreement.
- Communicate promptly with your home institution regarding any changes or issues.
3. After the Mobility Period
Your Rights:
- Receive full recognition from your home institution for satisfactorily completed activities.
- Obtain a transcript of records or a traineeship certificate within a stipulated period.
- Provide feedback on your experience through participant reports or surveys.
Your Responsibilities:
- Submit any required documentation to your home institution to facilitate recognition.
- Share your experiences to help improve the Erasmus+ program for future participants.
